Core UI
Presence
Keeps a React subtree mounted for its CSS exit transition, then unmounts it with reduced-motion support, re-entry cancellation, and inert exiting content.

Built for react.
Needs react, react-dom already installed
as peer dependencies.
An Astro-only project needs @astrojs/react wired up first — this won't run on its own in plain Astro.

Presence — questions
How do I install Presence?
Run velocityx add presence . The CLI writes the source straight into your project — it is not a runtime package dependency.
Is Presence free?
Yes — this version is MIT licensed. No account and no licence key, and because MIT cannot be revoked, a version published free stays free permanently.
Can I edit Presence after installing it?
Yes — the files are yours once written. The CLI compares its lockfile hash before upgrades and refuses to overwrite code you changed.
Does Presence ship JavaScript to my users?
Yes. It runs in the browser (useCallback, useEffect, useRef, useState) and uses matchMedia, so it needs to hydrate — in Astro, give it a client:* directive.
Which version of Presence should I install?
There are 5 published versions, and the default install gives you the current one. Pin an older one with velocityx add presence@<version> , or move between them later with velocityx upgrade presence — downgrades work too.
Does Presence pull in any dependencies?
No external ones. Every component in the library is built with react/react-dom or plain Astro only — no GSAP, Radix, Swiper or Headless UI — which is what makes dropping it into an existing project safe.
